When Tom Cruise married Katie Holmes in 2006, he could have chosen any number of people to serve as his best man. Who he chose though was good friend and leader of the Church of Scietology, David Miscavige.
Amongst the many invited guests at TomKat's wedding was fellow Scientologist at the time, Leah Remini. It was here that Leah asked David a question that she wasn't supposed to: "where's your wife?"
According to Tony Ortega, an anti-Scientology journalist and the first to report on Leah's split from the Church, Miscavige's wife Shelly has been missing for years, secretly stashed away by Scientology's top-brass for reasons unknown.
After Leah questioned why Shelly had suddenly disappeared, she was told that she didn't have a high enough rank in the Church to ask about Shelly's whereabouts!
Well, if there's one thing we know about Leah, it's that she doesn't take lip from ANYBODY!
After the wedding, Leah wrote what is known in Scientology as a "Knowledge Report" - something all Church members are required to submit if they ever see something that they consider against Church rules. But after filing her report, in which she wrote critical statements about Miscavige, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Remini received further backlash from Church leaders.
Leah was then allegedly ordered to undergo "thought modification" sessions. According to Ortega, she agreed to the treatments and remained in the Church but was from then on viewed as a "troublemaker." When Leah was asked recently to again partake in the thought modification, she refused and abandoned the religion for good.
Woah! We are shocked by all of this!
But what many want to know now is why Tom Cruise, who DOES carry enough power in the Church to question Miscavige about his wife's whereabouts, remains SILENT on the issue??? Where is Shelly Miscavige and why hasn't she been seen in over 7 seven years???
Leah's defection from Scientology has triggered many to wonder just how much longer Cruise and other Hollywood heavy hitters can keep quiet on these controversies.
