[News] Is IU Finally Coming Back as a Singer?

People are waiting to see if singer and actress IU will change her concept from the nation's younger sister to a more mature concept.

Current star of KBS 2TV weekend drama 'You're the Best Lee Soon Shin' IU has been working on her music album since early this year, which is scheduled to be released in September or October. If she has her comeback in September, it would be a return to music in 1 year and 4 months. As the 'nation's younger sister' who has a large 'older brother' and 'uncle' figure fandom, she is expected to stir things up in the music industry with her comeback.

Currently all of IU's music work is underway in secret. On August 14 a LOEN Entertainment rep said, 'We are aiming for an album release in September or October, but besides that nothing is set in stone. There is a concept but it's hard to reveal that at the moment. We don't have a title song yet but there are plans for a mini album as well as a full album.'

There is much speculation that she will be changing her cute and lively image that was featured in 'You and I' and 'Good Day' to one that resembles her role in 'You're the Best Lee Soon Shin.' She can't always play the part of the nation's younger sister, and perhaps she will take this opportunity to switch to a more mature concept.

IU is gaining popularity as an actress since taking on the lead female role of Lee Soon Shin in the drama 'You're the Best Lee Soon Shin,' which first aired in March. Although she started her acting career in 'Dream High,' her acting skills were nothing exceptional. Her appearance on the show was seen as a risk, and she struggled in her acting. However, she redeemed herself with only four episodes to go as her character Lee Soon Shin dealt with bitterness against her parents and the harsh realities of society. There has been a positive response to her emotional acting in these later episodes.

Unlike acting in a drama, a singer's image is affected greatly by her album, so many are looking forward to how she will handle her comeback to the music industry for the first time in almost a year and a half.
