Two K-pop groups known for playing their music live, FT Island and CN Blue, last weekend played at one of Japan’s biggest summer rock festivals.
Summer Sonic 2013 featured the two bands at both of the festival’s locations, in Tokyo and Osaka.
Other international groups on the bill included Metallica, Pet Shop Boys and Carly Rae Jepsen.
While it was the first time for CN Blue to perform in this particular festival, FT Island took part in 2010.
FT Island played hits such as “Time To” and “Black Chocolate”, as well as additional songs.
CN Blue performed “Where You Are”, “Blind Love” and more.
Three other Korean indie rock groups played on a smaller stage.
Now that FT Island is back in Korea, the group is set to perform here today, joining the “DMZ K-Rock in Harmony”, being shown on MBC, and then will move to Hong Kong for a solo concert.
CN Blue will perform two shows in Osaka, beginning today, and then head to Malaysia for a concert on Aug. 24.

Cube and FNC Entertainment join SM, YG, JYP and Star Empire to fight against chart manipulation

On August 7 YG, SM, JYP and Star Empire Entertainments filed injunctions against companies that use “music stockpiling” methods to manipulate digital music counts and it has been reported that Cube and FNC have joined in as well. The four initial entertainment agencies filed an injunction to investigate those who rig the digital music streaming counts. Sources commented, “This manipulation messes up the distribution order of the music industry.” This “music stockpiling” method is when the digital music counts are manipulated to get the artist’s track on top of the music charts...
